Information to Foreign Students
Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo is an Engineering School which encompasses different concentration areas and emphases. Poli (Escola Politécnica) offers three kinds of exchange programmes: (1) Double Degree; (2) Non-Degree Studies and (3) Academic Internship.
The structure of the teaching/learning departments is described on page 2 of the Application Form. Poli offers the different Engineering specializations in two formats: Semestral, where the course modules are divided into semesters (classes start in March and August) and the Cooperative Course, where the course modules are divided in three terms (classes start in January, May and September).
Courses
Exchange foreign students must be registered in undergraduate courses. Those coming for a Double Degree do not need to fill in the Study Plan. Those coming for an Academic Internship or to do their Final Graduation Work (a small piece of research under supervision) must be registered in at least one undergraduate discipline besides the disciplines “Trabalho de Formatura” and/or “Estágio Supervisionado”. Exchange foreign students can also take post-graduate courses, but they need to be registered in at least two undergraduate disciplines. The timetable for post-graduate courses is different from those of the Semestral and the Cooperative courses.
Disciplines
All undergraduate disciplines begin with the number 2 and all post-graduate disciplines begin with the number 5. Disciplines which start on 0 are no longer offered.
Deadlines
Our deadlines to receive the Application Forms are: May 10th for classes starting in the second semester and November 10th for classes starting in the first semester. The same deadlines apply for the Cooperative courses and for Post-Graduate disciplines.
Visa
To be registered at EPUSP the student must have to present the student visa (Type IV) (cheaper). This visa has to be arranged still in her/his country of origin. Tourist Visa will not be accepted to do the registering. Do not enter Brazil with a tourist Visa because it will be impossible to change it. We strongly advise to the foreign students to provide health insurance before leave your home Country.
Accommodation
Escola Politécnica da Universidade de São Paulo does not guarantee foreign students any sort of accommodation. But CRInt-Poli, can put foreign students in contact with students from Escola Politécnica who help them to find temporary solutions for their arrival until they find permanent accommodation.
